Dry stone walls

Stone laid upon stone

Dry stone walling is one of the oldest ways to build.

The slate that is often used for dry stone walls has several variations and innumerable forms and sizes. Whatever you chose, dry stone walls are always a perfect environmental feature in a range of different surroundings and stand as an object of beauty in the garden. Dry stone walls are robust and will endure all types of weather and wind.

Oppdal-, Alta- and Offerdal slate are the natural choice for dry stone walls.

Dry stone walls are natural, aesthetic and simple!

Façade / Blending

"It is the outside that counts"

A beautiful façade is a pleasure to the eye, especially when slate characterises the building. Slate is a timeless and genuine natural product, which combines excellently with any other materials (wood, steel, aluminium, concrete, glass, plastic etc.).

Contractors and architects who include it in their building projects can only benefit from slate. Slate is an excellent alternative, whether you are thinking about going modern or traditional.

You can chose slate as a central and unifying material or as a material to accentuate the effects of other materials.

A slate façade is timeless and maintenance-free and stands immune to all weathers (sun, rain, snow and ice).

Nature endures nature.

Paving

For indestructible reasons.

The art of laying slates is often carried out by experienced stonemasons, in particular for official projects. But many of us carry out this work ourselves, and we do it well, in our private homes and hyttas.

Tiling in slate (tiles and slabs) always creates attention. Just think that when you walk on slate, you are walking on a material which has gone through violent natural processes, millions of years ago. You form a close relationship with this masterpiece of nature. You stand on indestructible slabs, you move step by step up a slate staircase, you warm yourself by the slate fireplace, and you can adapt slate tables and benches to your garden environment.

Tiling is timeless and eternal!

Roofs & Chimneys

Put a roof on once and for all

The roof is the protector of house and hytta. It has to endure whatever nature can throw at it. It would be hard to find a better choice than Scandinavian slate. The forces of nature themselves have shaped slate’s unique qualities and extreme strength over millions of years.

Roofing slates are most commonly produced in squares, but also in teardrop shapes of different dimensions.

It is also a common tradition to use slate slabs for roofing. These slabs are now most commonly produced for the Italian market, which has maintained this tradition.

Harmony around the house and in the garden

Maybe there is a little bit of the landscape gardener, or the garden designer, in us all - or are you looking for professional help in creating harmony and natural beauty around your house and garden.

Slate works well with all of nature’s elements. It is virtually maintenance-free; you can vary between different types of slate, and also work its surface to bring out exciting nuances.

Using slate with water-features is especially effective.
